I would like to work with other stakeholders in identifying and addressing environmental challenges facing women and children who live in rural areas of Tanzania.
BACKGROUND
I was born in Dar es Salaam which is the largest city in Tanzania and I have been living at Msasani which is in Kinondoni District. I am the first born in our family and I have a younger brother. I am a Christian and I belong to the Zaramo tribe. I joined St. Joseph High School for advanced studies. After high school I was admitted to the Ardhi University to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering. It is a new field of study offered only by two out of over thirty existing universities in Tanzania with a total annual intake of 100 students. Our nation has relatively few professionals in this field of engineering. My parents are not able to pay my tuition fees due to the financial strains originated after my father was part of a severe car accident causing him to not be able to work. My father's friend helped me to pursue my first two years of studies at the university but unfortunately he passed away in May 2014. Despite all these setbacks I continue headstrong to pursue my environmental studies aiming at generating engineering solutions which would help combat the environmental problems facing different Tanzanian communities. Coming from a humble family background I am determined and motivated to become and serve as a role model for other disadvantaged youths within my community.
MY CHOICE OF STUDIES
My sympathy towards women and children who bear the brunt of environmental degradation is a great source of inspiration for me. As an individual and being part of a system I would like to work with other stakeholders in identifying and addressing environmental challenges facing women and children who live particularly in the rural areas of Tanzania. I dream of working as an Environmental Engineer dealing with water issues and sustainable sanitary solutions.
INTERESTS
I like exercising and I plan to get engaged in the environmental society at my university. I used to volunteer at the Department for Maternal and New Born Health Care at CCBRT Hosptial. My job was to visit different Tanzanian communities in order to try to empower women and help women with fistula.
