BACKGROUND
I am the first born and my parents are separated. I am the only child the two had together but dad has 6 other children and mum has 3 other children with my step dad. I spent most of my childhood with my maternal grandmother but later joined mum and step dad when I was around 13 years old. Both my mum and my dad are farmers while step dad works in a large scale tea plantation. Only my mother has been paying for my school fees and seen to various requirements.
WHY Medicine & Health
I want to become a great physician. Someone wrote that a good physician treats the disease but a great physician treats the patient with the disease. I want to become the latter! After I become a general doctor I will specialize in internal medicines after achieving a more stable financial situation.

Since I got the scholarship I have heard enough time to concentrate on academics rather than struggling looking for tuition. Also the continuous seminars helptohelp organised for us prepared me to be someone who wants to create a positive change in the community. And I will use my position in the community as a doctor to create change especially in as far as primary prevention of preventable diseases is concerned. As a changemaker I will provide comprehensive patient education and community involvement in health promotion. I will use the money am getting from allowances as a medical intern to start up a poultry project.

A: Alex Tugume has applied for a scholarship from Help to Help and was granted one. We have reviewed the written application and conducted a thorough interview with Alex Tugume . Q: If I donate, what happens with my donation?

A: Each semester, Help to Help pay school fees for our students. We reserve the right to only pay school fees for students who live up to the agreed terms and conditions for the scholarship which includes submitting grades in time, good academic perform and continuous communication with Help to Help among other things. The payments are done directly to each university. Once payments are done, we demand the universities to send us official receipts.

Q: Why does each student have their own fundraising profile?

A: We believe in a global "we" - our crowdfunding platform is a way for our students to express what societal issues they want to bring change to, and a way for our funders to learn and join their important causes by donating to their studies.
