What kind of community outreach activity are you planning to do this semester? Am happy to tell you that I was invited by a friend of mine who is a dental surgeon to participate in a dental outreach program that’s scheduled to take place at the end of next month. It will take place on 27th-June-2021 at St John’s church in Gayaza, Wakiso district. We will offer free dental treatment to all people that will show up and educating people on how best to prevent dental diseases right from childhood. What worries you in the world and what can you do to change that? The increasing costs of health services. The day to day increasing costs attached to health services especially in our country Uganda is alarming for example dental services in Uganda are among the most expensive services and this prevents people from visiting dental clinics and hospitals due to the high costs attached to the service. Personally I feel health should come at a free or subsidised cost to enable all people to access it given the fact that a healthy nation is one that develops. Health should not be looked at as business. My contribution After finishing my studies I believe am going to make a big difference. Through our internship study program I will be giving free services to people for a full year. I will continue to give free consultation to people and I believe this will help reduce on the problem. I have a dream of building a dental hospital at one time which will be aimed at giving the best and free Dental services in Uganda.

In the picture above I was in a small home garden at my uncle`s home. During the lock down I happened to plant two aloe vera plants, since people were trying to look for remedy to boost their immunity. But as I speak we have been cutting off some leaves for our home made immune boosting remedy and people from the neighborhood also come for some. As you can see in the picture I had just removed a young aloe vera pup for one of the neighbors who wanted to go plant it at his home.

In the picture above I was explaining to a patient about the dental check up I was about to do and that was during my Holidays at the University Dental clinic. Currently am so happy it’s the start of the semester waiting for the previous semester’s results which I expect to be good and it’s also brand new year with a lot of hope because by the end of this year God willing I will be in third year. Every coming day is a blessing from God and every passing day takes me closer to my dream. I thank God for Help to Help indeed being part of my dream I can’t thank you enough for the care and support may God bless you abundantly. With love Ssegujja Ashiraf. Happy New Year 2019
