BACKGROUND
I live in a family with both my parents and other three siblings. Am the third born in our family and am the only child at the university I was brought up by my parents right away from birth till now. My father is a peasant and my mother does small scale retail business.
WHY Engineering & Natural Science
I was inspired by my neighbor and family friend who is an electrical and electronic Engineer. He would often visit us in his free time. He explained to me the advantages of becoming an Engineer and electrical Engineer in particular. This boosted me to love sciences Physics and Mathematics in particular. I will contribute to society by employing people from and outside my community, helping the needy and financially disadvantaged students who have zeal to acquire education. I would like to be a founder and a managing director of my own electrical or electronics company. This will enable me to earn a living and get money to give back to the community.
INTERESTS
I like playing football, listening to country and gospel music, and reading novels and poems.

As changemakers, I together with some of my help to help scholorship beneficiaries visited a babies home located in Boma- Mbarara where we collected some amount of money and bought scholarstic materials such as books, soap, pens, pampers etc for the babies. In addition we interacted and played with them as well and restored the lost hope for the future. In the photo, I was at the university in the electrical engineering laboratory learning how to connect both the forward and reverse connections of the motor and programming it using programmable logic control (PLC).

What kind of community outreach activity are you planning to do this semester? In this semester we have scheduled a date for conducting an awareness seminar with the needy female students at Mbarara university of science and technology to motivate them to apply to Help to Help scholarship. What worries you in the world and what can you do to change that? What worries me most in the world is the increasing prices posed on health services especially in developing countries for example in Uganda yet the majority of the people cannot afford to purchase the health services. This jeopardizes me a lot because health services should be a priority and at very low prices in the country which is not the case in the most developing countries. In addition to that, the health services rendered freely by the government in Uganda are sold to the people which is so sad and hurting. To my opinion, I think I need to sensitize and call upon people about being merciful, kind, developing a sense of humanity and laying a helping hand to the needy and the disadvantaged groups of the community. I personally I have tried and will continue to try as much as possible to lay a helping hand to the needy. This is through assisting them in doing work, providing some food, helping them to clean their premises, comforting and inspiring them.

A: Gilbert Mugume has applied for a scholarship from Help to Help and was granted one. We have reviewed the written application and conducted a thorough interview with Gilbert Mugume .
