BACKGROUND
I was born in 1993 and I grew up in Matanana, a remote village near Iringa in Tanzania. During the last years, I has been living at an orphanage run by the organization, Heart to Heart where most of my eight siblings also are living. Our parents are struggling financially and my father is an alcoholic, beating both his two wives and his children. My interest for medicine started already in secondary school with me being especially interested in biology, chemistry and physics. For six months after finishing school, I got the opportunity to assist a doctor in Tanzania to learn and practice simple medical procedures. After that, I took care of all the medical issues at the orphanage and helped people from the village with wounds, burns, worms, malaria and other diseases. In 2013, I started studying at Gisan Health Training Institute in Mwanza. Since I could not afford to study the final two years of Secondary School, form five and six which are mandatory for admission to the university, I will first study a Diploma in Nursing and thereafter use my nursing degree to get into medical school.
WHY Medicine & Health
I want to go back to Matanana to help all the children at the orphanage. Maybe I can even start a proper clinic connected to the orphanage where I can do surgery and more advanced treatments.
INTERESTS
Singing and learning how to play the guitar. I also like playing football and watching my favorite team Simba Sport play.
