BACKGROUND
My family comes from the Southern parts of Tanzania known as Songea and I was brought up in Mbinga District. This part of the country is a very poor area but it is a good area for farming which is what my family is occupied doing, they are small-scale peasants. My father is growing maize and my mother is taking care of the family. My family has been struggling to take me to school. I had very good grades which enabled me to apply for Medical School. However, I had to stay at home for two years as my family gathered school fees for me. Since I joined college I have been having the same trouble financing my school fees and as I failed to pay I was not allowed to do the annual exams at first. I tried to assist my parents in whatever way I could to earn some money for my school fees but I ended up earning only enough to cover my accommodation. When I was working to earn some money, the classes went on and I could not cover up the time I lost. Somehow my teachers allowed me to sit the exams in the end. I have learned however that nothing is easy and I that I have to work hard in order to achieve success. Medicine subjects are very demanding. It requires a lot of concentration and me spending a lot of time studying. Having gotten this scholarship, I will be able to have enough time to study and concentrate on my studies. All that will enable me to pass well, to learn and to become a good doctor. There are lot of people suffering from illnesses and disabilities in Tanzania while at the same time there are too few doctors and a great need for people with medical skills. By becoming a doctor I will be able to serve my country and its people by rescuing them from illnesses. I will also rescue my family from poverty and enable them to live a life with better standards. In order to gain experience I have been doing research in the communities around Kilimanjaro about the awareness of liver cancer. My dream job is to become an Oncology surgeon since cancer is among the main problems in our country as well as globally. I am a charming person who likes sharing of ideas. I encourage people no matter what difficulties they face. Yet I am willing to work hard and do my best to help those who are in need like myself and my family. In my spare time I hang out with friends and sometimes I visit my relatives, or I read books and watch some videos. My interests are sports especially soccer, music and movies.
