BACKGROUND
I am from a family of seven siblings, and we all attended public schools. My parents are peasants and our family needs are supported majorly from the garden produce. I have been doing well with my education.
WHY
I chose pharmacy because pharmacists directly interact with their patients, and thus a pharmacist is the health professional who can reduce the misuse of drugs. There are several disease outbreaks in the country right now which needs direct intervention, and a pharmacist is the right person to do that. Several deaths have been caused by drug misuse in the health facilities in our country, due to an inadequate number of pharmacists to assist the drug use regulation. My dream job is working as a hospital pharmacist to reduce the medication related problems faced by the patients in the health facilities in our country. Due to the limited number of pharmacists in Uganda, medication related problems are increasing, resulting in higher mortality rates. I would like to directly interact with patients and intervene in the misuse of drugs.
INTERESTS
During my holidays I volunteer at a secondary school near my home where I teach students chemistry, biology and mathematics. I also help my parents in the garden. I also visit the health center near our home, where I give health talks and hope to the patients.
