BACKGROUND
My name is Simba Khalid. I was born in Mwanza in 1997. I'm the first born in my family with four siblings. My parents are all peasants. My parents are divorced and my father has another family and doesn't fulfill his responsibilities to us. I studied primary school at Lumala primary school. I'm currently pursuing a bachelor of Mining Engineering at the University of Dar es Salaam.

Help to Help has helped me become employable through various workshops like CV writing, interview skills, and working ethics, which all have made me develop skills which are very important in the job market. But, also the most important of all, is the exposure and drive to look for opportunities.

As a graduate Mining Engineer, I know that a lot of small scale miners practice local mining without following proper principles in mining. So from the education that I learned, I would use it to offer professional advices to these miners and give out various solutions on how to go about various challenges, providing training on efficient and a safe way of mining.

In the next six months I plan to be working in the mining site so as to gain more practical experience as a Mining Engineer. But also engaging on various social activities involving small scale miners, by providing professional training on ways to carry out a safe and efficient mining. But, also involving in agriculture and support my family.

When the university was closed I was assisting my family in agriculture, especially farm work. I also had an opportunity to increase my knowledge through reading books and exploring other development opportunities. I am looking forward to finish my bachelor degree with flying colors and enhance all the required software skills. The drive to achieve success and help my society and family in general drives me to work even harder as I get close to the end of the second semester.

In the picture was during a lookout session at Geita Gold mine in which me and my classmates had a study tour around mine sites. The end of the year exams where a bit challenging since coverage was a bit large but thankfully everything went well and I did my best. During holiday me and my classmates had a study tour in big mine sites in the country in which was organized by our college department as part of our curriculum but also after the tour I went home to greet support and help my parents. Iam so excited coming back to the university since there are new things that am going to learn and study thus which puts me close and efficient on my carrier and field of study.
