BACKGROUND
My name is Stephen Simeo Mafuru. A name assigned by my parents that symbolizes who I am, my personality, my dreams, my failures and my successes. I am a 25 year old Tanzanian young man, born in February 1989 in Arusha region. I am a first year student at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology. My parents are quite old as my father is about 76 years old and my mother is about 66 years old. Both of them are peasants. I have 7 brothers and 3 sisters who are my best friends and who always have been taking care of me. Even though we stayed in a place that seemed dull, lonely and primitive it was, for me, a nice and peaceful place. It made me thoughtful and respectful, and I shall never forget my people or my homeland. As life brought challenges we’ve tried to bring changes in the family to improve our life standard. It has been especially hard since 2013 when my mother had a stroke. One of my biggest personal challenges was when I failed to pay my tuition fee for university. It took a few years to overcome this challenge. When I grew up as teenager I was very eager and very interested working in the medical field, especially as a radiologist. Through concentration and hardworking I think I will succeed with my dream. Everything is possible. Since all human beings are social creatures, I believe that a lot of our happiness and satisfaction comes from the ability to connect with people. For that reason, I want to tell you more about who I am as a person, and what makes me special. Although I am still finding out who I am and who I shall become I can tell you this. I am definitely a person who likes to communicate, to learn new things and to gain new skills. By sharing knowledge and interacting with people around me I think I will grow in my self-confidence. I am also a very understanding, empathic and sensitive person. For me I believe that success is a long journey.
