BACKGROUND
I was born in 1991 in an area called Shinyanga in the central Northern parts of Tanzania, which is where my family lives. The area is part of the Mara region where the large national park Serengeti is also located. The small source of income that my family has, mainly comes from the small-scale farming we do in Shinyanga. I am a student at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical College, taking Doctor of Medicine, which is a five year long course. I have been struggling with completing my school fees for the past years. The difficulty has been interfering with my studies and in the end of last year I was sent back home to gather the remaining amount of the school fee, which I had not been able to pay. I was missing my classes and it made it difficult for me to cover up what my fellow students had covered while I was away. The economic status of my family is not very good so I have tried to work and help them to pay for my fees. I worked as a teacher at a Secondary School while at the same time trying not to miss too much of my studies. I am a hard working person. I am very dedicated to reach the goals and ambitions I have. In order to succeed in my studies I spend a lot of time discussing issues with my fellow students and doing exercises. I believe through my achievements, I will set an example to others and encourage them to reach where I am. My dream job is to become a Pediatrician. The reason I want to become a Pediatrician is because children are exposed to great risk factors and problems in our country. I love children and I do not like seeing them suffer in such a young age. Becoming a Pediatrician will give me the capability to help children, not only in my country but globally too. I believe the most important personal skills a doctor needs to have it to be a good listener. You need listen to a patient carefully before you make the diagnosis and start the treatment. The Help to Help scholarship will enable me to work harder and perform better since I will be having more time to study. It will also enable me to help those who are in need just like myself. I will be able to show them the path I took to success, the educational path. Lastly, I will be able to save my family from poverty.
